Concussions, or mild traumatic brain injury,  have received considerable media attention over the recent years, largely due to this being an increasingly recognized injury seen in professional athletes.  This recognition has increased our knowledge of concussions, from which we have learned that this is an injury that affects a great number of our youth involved in athletics of all kinds.

A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that results in molecular changes which alters the way the brain functions.
